Aboubakare in Named Unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year
Brown women's tennis standout Bianca Aboubakare (Orange, CA) has been unanimously named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year in a vote by the League's eight coaches. In addition to earning Rookie of the Year honors, Aboubakare was one of four players to earn First Team All-Ivy unanimously, and half of the only doubles pair, joining with freshman Marisa Schonfeld (Washington, DC), to earn First Team All-Ivy unanimously. She and Yale's Janet Kim, the Ivy Player of the Year, were the only two players in the Ivy League to earn First Team All-Ivy honors in both singles and doubles. Since the Ivy League began honoring outstanding athletes with Player and Rookie of the Year honors in 1995, Aboubakare is Brown's first-ever Rookie of the Year and the first player since Trishna Patel '98 (1997 Player of the Year) to earn one of the two major awards.
