Michael Kohler arrived at Brown University in January 2002 as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing. His daily responsibilities include overseeing all the marketing and promotions for Brown's 37 intercollegiate sports, selling corporate sponsorships, and managing all the advertising for Brown's athletic program.

Mike also directs all operations for Brown's 150 annual radio and internet broadcasted events including talent selection and production of formats and features. Brown's comprehensive broadcast schedule includes football, men's/women's soccer, men's/women's basketball, men's/women's hockey, and men's/women's lacrosse and respective coaches' shows. He has also overseen the growth of Brown Athletics on television and has worked with corporate and media partner Cox Communications to expand the number of televised athletic events. Further, he also chaired the committee for the 125th Anniversary Season of Brown Football. Additionally, he serves as the administrator for the women's softball program, women's gymnastics, marching band, mascots, and cheerleading program.

Prior to coming to Brown University, Kohler served as the Director of Corporate Sales for the athletic department at San Diego State University. A San Diego native, Kohler increased San Diego State's corporate sponsorship revenue over 50% to $1.1 million and doubled the number of corporate partners affiliated with SDSU athletics during his two year tenure with the Aztecs.

Prior to returning to his San Diego, Kohler served as the Manager of Campus Marketing and Promotions at the University of Denver for two and a half years. While at Denver, he was involved in the marketing of the new Daniel L. Ritchie Center, an $80 million multi-purpose athletic and recreational facility, took part in the University's transition to Division I in all sports, and oversaw all in-game entertainment and promotions for Denver men's hockey, men's and women's basketball, and women's gymnastics. In addition, Kohler was active in campus involvement and helped sell out student season tickets during the first year of the Ritchie Center.

Mike Kohler received an M.S.M. in Sports Management and an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Development from the University of Denver in 1999. Additionally, he was awarded a B.S. in Biopsychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1995.

He is married to the former Chandra Oliver, currently the Campus Recreation Center Director at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. They have one son (Ethan) and live in Warren, Rhode Island.
